The Christmas Shoes

'Twas 3 nights before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even my computer mouse. I was all done my Christmas shopping and eager to wrap and place the gifts under the tree. Is it just me or is it only when you set out to wrap the gifts that you realize that you forgot something? So there I was, yet again, going out to Wal-Mart at 10 pm to pick up some stocking stuffers and "Santa's wrapping paper".

To my surprise, it's not that crazy out there...not as bad as I thought it would be. The economy? More online shoppers (yay!)? People procrastinating less, budgeting more? Probably a combination of a lot things at play. Still, I don't dare venture out over the next two days just to see if my theory - less busy than in years past - holds true.

But my extra trip out to the store wasn't a waste of time after all. Perhaps a blessing in disguise. On my way, listening to the radio I heard that song "The Christmas Shoes". Talk about putting things into perspective. Have a listen. The hit song and best-selling book (written by Donna VanLiere) have also inspired a CBS event movie (check local listings).

I am especially grateful this Christmas for having my mom to share it with it. She is a cancer survivor and my hero. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. xo
